Arrow Case Study: High-accuracy GNSS for Vineyard Mapping
A prime vineyard located in California presented Eric Gakstatter with an interesting project. The vineyard landowners needed to track and monitor over 500,000 vines in order to get the highest quality product and quickly address any biosecurity issues, irrigation and drainage problems. The legacy paper-based system had become an exhaustive task.
To address the operational challenges of tracking and monitoring over 500,000 individual vines, Eric and the vineyard’s landowners turned to a modern, mobile-first solution that would replace their cumbersome paper-based system and streamline large-scale data management.
They implemented a powerful combination of the Eos Arrow Gold® GNSS receiver and Esri’s ArcGIS QuickCapture application — a high-accuracy, real-time mobile data collection platform designed for rapid field use.
This streamlined, scalable solution transformed a previously labor-intensive, error-prone task into an efficient, cost-effective operation — setting a new standard for precision agriculture and data-driven vineyard management.
